The Department of Microbiology & Immunology will hold its annual retreat on September 8 and 9, 2011 at the Dolce Basking Ridge Conference Center in Basking Ridge, NJ. Additional information is available online (facilities and directions), and there will be buses to and from the venue.

We are grateful that Dr. Ian Lipkin, Director of the Center for Infection and Immunity and the Northeast Biodefense Center, John Snow Professor of Epidemiology, and Professor of Neurology and Pathology at Columbia University will be our guest and will present the keynote lecture. Dr. Lipkin is a physician-scientist who is internationally recognized for his work with the West Nile and SARS viruses, and for pioneering a number of techniques for the identification of emerging pathogens. Dr. Lipkin is a fellow of the American Society for Microbiology and the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences and is the winner of numerous scientific prizes and honors.

All departmental faculty, students and postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to attend. The retreat begins on Thursday morning and lasts until Friday afternoon. There will be five sessions of 20 minute research talks presented by faculty, and a poster session presented by students and postdoctoral fellows.
